Our Team of Security and Fraud experts built up the following early bird warning of some common lottery fraud and identity theft.
- Fraudsters send unsolicited correspondences by email, fax and post or by calling the victim claiming they are representative of known Legitimate lottery company to inform you that you have Won a lottery, in most instances, you may have not played any lottery. On attempt to respond, you will be asked to make upfront payment.
- Fraudsters send unsolicited and phishing email claiming they are from a known lottery company and ask you to click on a link to confirm your personal details including username, password and access code. all the information you submitted to them will in return be sold or used for impersonation, this is known as identity theft.
- Fraudsters can also create false, clone or 'spoof' websites that look very real to a legitmate website , with the aim of persuading users to enter personal information such as username and passwords or other memorable information. They will then re-use this information to access your Account.
